Your Guide to Skin Minimalism: No-fail Skincare Routine
We’re bringing it back to the basics. Overfilled drawers and 10-step skincare routines were everywhere a while ago. But the pandemic changed the way we approach skincare. Everyone is prioritising health & wellness – now more than ever.
So skincare becomes a tool to help you unwind and slow down. The whole ‘skincare is self-care’ thing makes sense now, but it doesn’t have to take over your day.
As discussions about sustainability also increase, consumers are becoming more conscious about their skincare purchases. We are aware that overconsumption harms our planet. So Skin Minimalism is here to stay.
The Essentials
We have a fool-proof skincare routine for you. Less steps doesn’t mean less effective. The three skincare musketeers are: cleanse, treat and protect!
Cleanse
Cleansing is a must. Use a gentle cleanser to get rid of any excess oil, dirt and such. No, your cleanser shouldn’t make your face feel squeaky clean. Just clean enough. Cleansing helps the next skincare products penetrate and work their magic. ✨
Treat
This is the step where you can introduce an active – a product that targets a specific skin concern.. It can take the form of a toner, essence, serum and even a wash-off treatment. We recommend using one active in a leave-on format at night. Personalise this step based on your skincare needs.
Protect
There’s one thing that works for all skin types: hydration. Yes, even oily skin! Moisturising + hydrating your skin is key for a healthy skin barrier. A gel-based and hydrating moisturiser works wonders for oily/combination skin. Choose a cream-based moisturiser if your skin is on the drier end of the spectrum.
You can do all of these steps, but we save the best one for the end: sunscreen! Sun is our enemy, the biggest source of skin damage. So make sunscreen your friend. Always aim for SPF 30 PA +++ or more. Wear sunscreen every day ‘c even when you’re indoors or it’s rainy. Your windows don’t filter out all UV rays.
A practical, sustainable and eco-friendly skin trend? Yes, please. We are pro-skin minimalism and rooting for you to start your skin minimalism journey <3
