How to choose makeup according to your skin type
It can be frustrating when you buy your favorite beauty product to use, hoping it will look great. Unfortunately, it just doesn't turn out as expected, and leaves you disappointed.😣
Choosing makeup according to your skin type may sound a little difficult at first. But it's really not! There are many things you should take into consideration when choosing make-up, especially which skin type you have. Allow me to break it down for you!🥰
There are mainly 5 types of skin - normal, dry, sensitive, oily and combination skin.
Normal skin types can use any kind of makeup, it hugely depends on what you prefer and also the weather. If your skin feels dry, then choose products with moisturizing ingredients like oils, ceramides, hyaluronic acid etc. If the climate is particularly humid, stick to products that are matte in texture as they will last longer.
Dry skin is usually caused by factors such as the weather, low air humidity and it is usually temporary. People with dry skin must make sure to use products with hydrating ingredients like vitamin e, oils, hyaluronic acid etc. This will ensure that your base makeup will go on smoothly and last all day.
Sensitive skin is more likely to react to certain ingredients to which normal skin has no reaction. It is fragile skin, usually accompanied by feelings of discomfort, such as heat, tightness, redness, or itching. People with sensitive skin must be very careful of what they’re using as certain ingredients might irritate your skin. Barrier supporting formulas containing ceramides, probiotics, squalane etc will help calm your skin. Make sure to go through the ingredients list of a makeup product to ensure there aren’t any that might irritate your skin!
Oily skin has a humid, and bright appearance. It is caused by excessive oil production by sebaceous glands. Any makeup product that has mattifying properties will be your best friend! It will also last longer and prevent your skin from getting oily further. Also, remember to moisturize your skin well to allow of a great base.
Combination skin type, as the name suggests, is a combination of dry and oily skin types. The area with more oil is usually the T- zone (forehead, nose, and chin), while the skin on the cheeks is either normal or dry. You can use a mixture of products meant for dry and oily skin types!
Gush Beauty has products that will suit all skin types. But as with everything, do a patch test before using anything new on your skin! Hope this helped make your makeup purchases easier! Cheers!🥰
