What is Clean Beauty: All you need to know in 2022

We’re all humans of habit. When we go shopping, we’re likely to visit Zara or H&M because of familiarity rather than a boutique store. When we eat out, we gravitate towards the restaurants or meals we’ve tried before. How often do you try something new?

What is Clean Beauty?

Okay, I know, everyyyyone is using the “clean beauty” buzz word, but what is it really?

In the past few years, a number of brands have taken a stand for tabooing harmful chemicals that are present in almost every skincare or makeup product (except ours, of course!). Clean beauty products are made with ingredients that do not harm, and sometimes even benefit the health of our skin, and environment.

At Gush, clean beauty is taken one step further so you never have to compromise. Whether it is the Glow Getter that provides instant hydration with infused pearl pigments that leaves your skin glowing or the super pigmented Play Paint lipstick packed with hyaluronic acid - Gush is makeup you can sleep in!

On the other hand, conventional makeup brands exposes our skin to on average 100 chemicals in a single routine, and they’re definitely not good ones.

Clean to us means products without an ingredient list longer than our high school history textbooks, no nasties that have endless harmful health effects ranging from skin irritation to cancer and definitely no cheeky terms and conditions, or making you sign a legal disclaimer!

Green washing? What is it and how can I spot a brand doing it?

Greenwashing in beauty, much like fashion is when brands make deliberate, misleading claims on their values, ingredients and processes to make consumers believe they are more environmentally, and personally friendly than they really are.

With the growing demand, and trendiness of clean beauty a number of brands are jumping on this bandwagon.

To identify these sneaky brands, you need to know how green you really want to be. For example, the percentage of beneficial/organic ingredients or whether your priority is reducing carbon footprint anddd always read labels!

How clean are we?

Two words. SQUEAKY CLEAN.

Not convinced? Good, this blog has taught you well! Let’s get into the deeets.

At Gush, allll our products are vegan! Our products were tested on two-legged creatures only (no bunnies!) and went through a zillion tries before we nailed the perfect ones. Gelatin, beeswax definitely did not make the cut!

You will never find toxic ingredients in our makeup, only in your ex boyfriend. Our products are free of sulphates, parabens, phthalates, mineral oils, formaldehyde and fragrances AKA everything that makes your skin feel clogged, gunky and gross. The only ingredients in our products are those that make you look and feel amazing that make our products skincare infused.

Want to reduce your carbon footprint? At Gush, we live for versatility and all our products are multi use so you can streamline your beauty regime! Good for the planet. Good for your wallet. Use Glow Getter as a highlighter, moisturiser and primer. PlayPaint for your lips, cheek stain or eyeshadow. Stacked in Your Favour is already three amazing products in one!

Okay, enough self flattery, let our products do the talking now!

Happy Gushing!!
XOXO
